Basketball is a worldwide played sport and it's a perfect way to have fun and work on your body condition at the same time.
Basketball can be played by almost anyone. It doesn't matter if you are short, tall, fat or skinny, you will be able to find your role in the game.
You can always practice by yourself or create your own shooting games, but the best experience is when you play with others. You can play 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 on one half of the field or you can play a regular match on the whole field with 5 players in both of the teams.
Let me break the game playing into three different things: Shooting, dribbling and passing.
These are the essentials of the game that you can work on and always improve. You might find that you are better for example in dribbling than you are in shooting if you are short, so you can know on what to work on more.
When it comes to shooting you should learn the proper stance and the jump, to make your shots more precise. Dribbling is by my standards the least important of the three essentials, but it will come in handy in 1 on 1 duels and of course showing off. You can start off by learning the simple tricks and later advancing to more complicated ones. Finally, the passing is an important part of the game if you want to be a good player and a loyal team mate. No one likes a player who plays by himself. You can learn all these things and more here: http://www.youth-basketball-tips.com/
One more important thing to master, if you are a beginner, is to not look at the ball all the time. At first you might find it hard to dribble with your eyes up, but you will see that it's much more important to have your eyes on the game.
So if you want to get active and have fun in your free time, basketball is a great way to do that! Just remember to have fun and put some work in it, don't get angry if you can't manage to do something and don't yell at others who can't play very well. No one likes the bossy type players and if there is no team work, there is no game!

    1. The original leather balls could be way more expensive. Depends on where you buy them, what brand and what quality.

    3. Nah, I wouldn't call it cheaping out, just spending smart. You don't need an original leather basket ball to play with your friends.
